Domenicali

Stefano Domenicali what are you doing?

Sour Formula One Boomer opinion

Time to dust off the Sour Formula One Boomer blog and write about you Stefano Domenicali. I just heard part of the BSMT Podcast. The podcast you were saying that “If a track has historic value, it’s a plus, but not enough”. Insisting that it doesn’t matter for the young people who follow F1 where we are racing. Perhaps, we can move to Pyongyang instead and have a race there as well? Stefano, Stefano, Stefano… what is happening?

It is not the first time since Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley left the show controversial things appeared. Not stating that Bernie didn’t have weird idea’s such as the “medals” idea from him. However, since Liberty Media came around and since Ben has been FIA president it became such a weird show. A show, I don’t understand anymore Stefano.

I know enough youngsters who care about the historical circuits, who enjoy the races there, who don’t like Las Vegas, Miami or Saudi-Arabia. I know for a fact that many “young people who follow F1” are present during the historic Grand Prix in Zandvoort. Friends of mine take their youngsters even with them to enjoy the brutal power of V10s. To show them how the cars really should look like.

Stefano Domenicali you have to believe me that you only speak about a small group of these youngsters who can’t even read a book as they get bored and cry that their life sucks. This group of fans is not the fans you want. Ditching the older Formula One fans is even worst. How can you secure a sport if you try to annoy the old and older fans? I recall that I was four when I saw my very first Formula One race. Jos Verstappen ending on the podium in 1994! I was four, I loved the circuits, I also loved the new circuits that were added. Though, speak for myself, I loved the history even more.

Stefano Domenicali you seem to forget what the sport is really about. Sadly, it became a marketing show for people who can’t watch more than 10 minutes because they get bored. Shorten the races and add more sprint races won’t change a thing to this. A generation was already doomed before they were born.

Don’t kick out the Grand Prix’s with historic value, you need these circuits to keep the sport alive. The group of fans previous Drive To Survive is bigger and will be bigger in my religion. Anyway, you will probably not read my sour opinion about the current idea’s anyway. Therefore, I will just applaud like you did on the podium during the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix.
