Super Nova Racing and Formula One

Super Nova Racing Limited, as the official name was of the team, was established in 1991 and competed in two seasons of the All Japanese Formula Three Championship before the team moved their headquarters in 1994 to England, to compete in Europe’s International Formula 3000 series.  A year later, the first rumours appeared of Super Nova’s Formula One plans. How Zakspeed tried to re-enter the Formula One

Erich Zakowski left Formula One at the end of January 1990 when his Zakspeed team tested their Zakspeed–Yamaha 891B for the final time at Estoril and then Paul Ricard. The F1 project had become too expensive and after a disastrous 1989 season the team’s main sponsors ended their support of Zakspeed.
