As the wheel Turns featuring todays hectic and insane life in the Formula One. Picturing the life of team managers, wicked fans and scandals that are even more insane. A soap you’ve never seen before guaranteed with intrigues framing and bashing of people and groups. Yes, this soap is all about the daily life of a Formula One employee. Indeed Drive to survive is child play compared to As the Wheel Turns. Be sure to put your VHS in your VHS recorder so you won’t miss any episode of this already scandalous soap. If you lack any VHS know you can also watch it live and on the internet.
I got to say that the original article was in Dutch and looked much funnier. I’m not trying to be funny though I’m more serious than an average German citizen normally is. Internally the Formula One seems to be rotten to its core. Something, which has been rotten for a couple of year. Well it is my observation. I believe that the most of you share a different observation.
Anyway, the Christian Horner saga turned another page today this is also the reason to publish this blog today. Allegedly, screenshots of Christian Horner and the woman were shared online. Somehow, while not a journalist, I received the link as well. The screenshots felt unreal and faked. For those who don’t know it. It is easy to create a non-existing phone number and use WhatsApp. Similar to the online bankcards you can create in your banking app. Well at least we can do it here. Years ago, I was active on racesimulations.com when I was one of the cast members of the soap that was going on at the forum called As the Wheel Turns. Believe back then it couldn’t get worst. The Formula One torpedoed those thoughts. Because what is happening the last years can’t be seen as a normal thing right?
I want to point out a subject I usually don’t do and that’s the position of woman in the sport right now. I had this discussion with several woman and they sadly have to agree on the fact this saga with Horner doesn’t turns positive for them in the sport. Somehow, like those two girls years ago faking their harassment to get free access at McLaren and now Aston Martin? This with Horner and obviously other incidents do damage the image of woman in the sport. For what reason? You may disagree on this and that’s fine as we live in a democracy.
Well at least I still live in a democracy. I sometimes believe that the intention from some groups in the Formula One is to tear down the democracy. Forcing their opinions and views. If you don’t agree they just start threatening. Sadly, the examples of aggressive fans is explosively growing. Last year the incidents of fans fighting each other on the stands is a disgrace and disrespectful for the sport. You can’t sink lower than that as a fan. Where we used to go around in a good harmony with each other only ten years ago. Today it seems decades ago. Maybe As the Wheel Turns is also the name for the “emotional” and “reckless” fans that destroying it for the rest of us. I don’t want to use the word woke as it is even more pathetic and doesn’t cover the problem in today’s Formula One.
Today’s sport that became a stupid soap where actual racing became just a sideshow. Just a accessory of the weekend. Who needs real racing if teams burning each other down? Team managers are attacking and framing each other? They are the perfect example of what is going wrong in this world today. It seems they even like it. I really don’t get it and as I wrote yesterday in my orphaned blog I truly lost connection with the sport.
Somehow, today’s soap brings us to the days when Formula One was pure porn. When drivers had charism, their own opinions, didn’t care their attitude nor how the world saw them. The days that drivers like James Hunt, Patrick Depailler and Clay Regazzoni appeared in the Italian Playboy because why not? I know I’m stuck in a realty that doesn’t exist anymore. The reality of what once was and never will be again. We are back to an period where sex is dirty, where nudity is wrong, where you can’t be yourself.
Sure some of you will tell me I shouldn’t not focus on the negativity or like some of you did on twitter telling me I’m wrong with my opinions. Trust me, there are plenty of reason to shine a light on the negative side of today’s sport. The sport I used to love only years ago. I hope you all enjoy As the Wheel Turns for the coming years.
