Vinted guide to buy retro F1 team gear

Blog

The last two years I have been showing of my recent purchases of vintage (or retro) team gear on regular base. Every time when I post them I get question like where do you buy the team gear? I buy them on vinted, for the simple reason that is most of the times reasonably priced. For example I purchased by AGS team gear for 90 euro’s. If you look this up at Ebay it is probably about 150euro’s. Another example is my Arrows shirt from 2001. I purchased it for 40euro’s while I saw the same shirt for 90euro’s.

Maybe it is stupid to share how I search for team gear on vinted. My chances may shrink now to strike the deals. However, the last two years I probably purchased about 30 pieces. Including my two Leyton House shirts and a very very rare Lamborghini Formula One Team sweater.

I’m aware that many of you who follow me have the same issue as I have the love for the late 80s, 1990s and early 2000s merchandise. Not just merchandise, though official team gear that team members worn and are from a much higher quality.

It might depend on where you live for the amount team gear you can find. For example I’m living in the Netherlands as far as I know I can purchase in Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and recently also in Germany. I’m already on the hunt for ATS gear currently. However, I base it is just the same. You can try to use a VPN, though I haven’t had luck to buy in the United Kingdom for example.

If you just want to random search on vinted, and have some time left, you can search on Vintage F1 or Retro F1 within the clothing section. Be sure to select all subs within the clothing as people most of the time just randomly upload It to vinted. The app usually selects the category and people just hit upload.

You can also use search terms like “Orange Arrows”, “Arrows F1 Team”, “Jordan Grand Prix”, “Jordan F1”. If you look for more specific as I have with Asiatech and Supertec just type in, with all category search, “Supertec” or “Supertec F1”. The same goes for example Larrousse or any other Formula One team. It is more or less just playing with words to see what you find. Sometimes you don’t find an Orange Arrows shirt when you search on it though do find it when you search for Arrows F1 or similar. You can also add a year or a driver name to it, or just a driver name.

However, as I bought plenty now i will share some brands with you. It makes it easier to search for specific era or teams. Within Vinted you can select brands while search so It makes it easier.
Arrows F1 Team: Cricket & Co(1996) Michael Bogner(1997), Arrows Gear(1999), Paul Costelloe(2000-2002)
AGS: Look and Like (1989)
Minardi: Lois(1980s),Lois Shirt(1997-1999) Madamar (2000s)
Leyton House/March: Leyton House Racing Team
Jordan Grand Prix: SLAM(1997), Jordan Grand Prix(1998-2000), Puma(2001-2003)
Prost Grand Prix: LVS(1996-1999), NewMan(2000-2002).

Probably the best luck is by just searching for a team’s name or by a driver from that era. Sometimes random search do find interesting stuff. If you search for Benson & Hedges for examples, you can find some Jordan team gear for some great price. I found it that sellers from France and Italy ask less money.
