While UnracedF1 original purpose was about revealing the stories behind the failed attempts to enter the Formula One. Perhaps also making the ultimate failed database with teams and cars that never appeared on the grid it became the last years much more. Especially since the Covid-19 era, unintendedly, the articles shifted more towards opinion posts. As well, the switch meant more articles not related to UnracedF1 project. Recently most of the articles are about the forgotten part of the Formula One. The stories behind the little sidenotes in the sport we love so much. Therefore, as I have been thinking about it recently a little insight of my plans for the (near) future of the page.
Don’t worry UnracedF1 won’t disappear, the name won’t be changed nor will there change anything in the background. As one of the few Formula One related sites that is still independent I believe i have somewhat of a strong brand with UnracedF1. I’m aware you love my style of writing or you don’t love it. The same goes about my opinions, you like them or you don’t like them. That’s the luck it is independent. Another positive side behind it there are no sponsors who are pushing me to have an amount or several stories to be published. To give you an inside UnracedF1 costs around 250 euro’s a year. Neither do I feel the need to make any money on it as the writing I do is hobby based.
So no there won’t be changing any drastically. As you may know there is a second author for the website her name is Laura. Every now and then she writes stories as well in Italian. The reason I did this is because I like here writing style and the time she takes to do research. Why not give someone the opportunity to have her articles published.
The biggest change has been a slightly different layout for the website, the old one was outdated, this one should be a bit faster. As well, I recently deleted a couple static pages UnracedF1 still had from it’s early days in existing. The pages were abandoned for a couple of years already and only collected electronical dust.
Before Christmas I added a new section to the website named “The Forgotten Formula 90s” which I enjoy to write articles for. It are the stories like the secret Pirelli test form Ferrari in 1990 at Fiorano I love to dig into and write about. It is also the path I entered with the website. While the stories about Unraced F1 teams and cars are also still part of it, there are more categories. Another one is the Ultimate Test Drivers thread per year. Just an overview with all the drivers that tested for the teams in those seasons.
At the moment, with this one, there are 483 articles released with 15 others in concepts. Like the unknown Scuderia Italia design for 1994, Ginetta’s F1 car. There are plenty of articles still waiting to be investigated. Though, expect for the coming time more of these type of articles. Forgotten stories with forgotten drivers and unexpected twists. However, as said the website name won’t be changed as I think I have something unique.
